Practicing with Tillie has changed my life. A modern dancer in my earlier years, I didn’t start yoga until my 50s. I am now 66 and have been practicing with Tillie for about 10 years – moving through in-person to online classes as the world has changed. I started with her “Tri Dosha Balancing” floor series, which felt magical to me from the very first class, as though my body was literally speaking to me and saying “Yes! Please! This!” Over the years I have explored other series with her (the seated and standing Tri Dosha series, Yin, and hip-opening). Recently, a combination of these has helped me recover almost all of the functionality I lost from a spinal compression fracture caused by a serious fall. But it’s the Tri Dosha floor series that remains the core practice for me. A gentle combination of stretching and strengthening, of activating and deep relaxing – it is a somatic meditation. Every time I practice this with her I find peace, integration and renewal. It has changed me physically, mentally and emotionally for the better, and I can honestly say it has helped my body feel like it is getting healthier as I age. I feel so grateful to have found Tillie; she is a wise old soul in a young person.

I participated in several yoga classes via Zoom in the last two years. Tillie’s online classes are my favorites. It is very easy to sign in, pay, and join. During the classes, Tillie gives clear and simple directions so that the participant does not have to watch the screen for cues. She allows plenty of time for yogis to make the transition to the new posture and then plenty of time for the muscles to relax and release into the posture. There are no hurries or worries during Tillie’s classes. Sometimes at the end of class, she sings a glorious chant or shares a beautiful quote. I always sign off feeling peaceful and grateful

Tillie’s yin yoga class is a perfect response to our cultures constant rushing. It feels like she tailors her routines to physically and mentally slow us down, relax and notice what our bodies are actually feeling. I love that she uses her shimmery sound bowl to signal that it is time to start coming out of position. Tillie teaches mindfulness and it pleasantly keeps me aware of each soothing moment. She teaches easy breathing techniques that seem to calm my brain from hurried thoughts and allows me to be present. She directs us to the sensing the weight of gravity while holding a pose. She has put together such purposeful sequences that rest assured, just follow her and you will walk out of there feeling like you just had a great massage! It’s wonderful, no knowledge necessary.

I was rushing around the other day to get to an appointment. I had about 10 minutes and thought “I could squeeze in another errand.” Then I stopped and remembered that panicky feeling I get from rushing that I don’t like. So instead I noticed my surroundings and found a bird chirp and arrived at my appointment focused, present and calm. It sure was better than arriving out of breath! So it’s working Tillie! Thank you for caring and sharing your gift. I hope to soak up everything I can from you.

She takes the time to listen to my needs every time we meet. she never rushes me. She lets me cry or laugh and everything in between.
